Sport is a vital part of the Benenden School’s curriculum and the School has a longstanding aspiration to allow as many girls as possible to participate in sport.

Sawyer & Fisher were appointed to provide Project Management and Quantity Surveying services for the construction of a purpose-built floodlit all-weather pitch and new sports pavilion. The project was the first capital project of Benenden School’s ambitious Centenary Vision development programme.

The All-Weather Pitch will allow the girls to play sports, primarily Lacrosse and Hockey, all through the winter, which will dramatically increase the amount of training time they receive. The all-weather pitch houses one full-size hockey pitch, one full-size lacrosse pitch and two junior size hockey pitches.

The pavilion is a two storey building with a subterranean lower ground level which provides changing facilities for two lacrosse/ hockey teams and the match referee and equipment and maintenance stores. The upper ground level provides a large floor space which will primarily be used to host PE and sport science lessons. On match days, the space is used as a function room providing hot and cold snacks and drinks from the kitchen/ servery. The pavilion also provides a total of 84 spectator seats.
